Interface Series

Interface Series is a body of work produced from 1996-2001 that explored ways in which the user interface of web pages might be introduced into painting. Some elements of the works are painted in oil or acrylic and then scanned into the computer; other elements are produced in the computer. The images were printed out on dot matrix printers, painted on, and then scanned back into the computer. These hybrid paintings/collages play with ideas about the structure of the network, the materiality of the digital and the materiality of painting and the differences between analogue and digital.
